     When designing switching power supplies or other electronic equipment, there are many indicators that need to be considered and tested, and altitude is rarely mentioned or cared about, which is a rarely mentioned performance parameter of equipment. Switching power supplies or electronic devices that are actually used at high altitudes can have their own set of problems.
     Elevation is the difference between a place and sea level. It is the vertical distance above sea level at a point on the ground. The higher the altitude, the lower the air density, the lower the atmospheric pressure, the higher the air viscosity coefficient, the number of air molecules will be reduced, resulting in the reduction of heat transfer, because air convection heat transfer is through the molecular collision of energy transfer. As a result, the heat transfer efficiency is reduced, and the cooling performance of electronic components becomes worse. At 5,000m, the heat transfer coefficient is 21% lower than the value at sea level, and the heat transferred by convection is also 21% lower. It will reach 40% at 10,000 meters. The decrease of heat transfer by convective heat dissipation will lead to the increase of product temperature rise. Therefore, the heat dissipation of devices at high altitudes decreases. The equipment in the data center generates heat during operation. As the number of molecules in the local area decreases, the temperature of the heating element is not easy to dissipate. As a result, the local temperature of the device rises too high.
     The higher the sea wave area, the thinner the air, the lower the strength of the insulating medium, so that the equipment is easy to discharge, resulting in the usual insulation distance becomes insufficient. High altitude areas are prone to condensation, reducing the creepage distance of electronic equipment.      The performance of insulating components in data center electronics also deteriorates. For safety reasons, it is generally hoped that the insulation resistance of insulating materials is as large as possible. Insulating materials mainly include gas insulating materials, liquid insulating materials and solid insulating materials. Gas medium and solid medium are widely used in electronic information products to achieve the purpose of insulation, so the quality of insulating medium directly affects the safety of products. If the insulating material of the equipment is destroyed in the electric field due to exceeding its insulation strength and loses its insulation performance, then the insulation breakdown phenomenon will occur, and the equipment will not be able to continue to work normally.
